Dawson James Pinot Noir 2018
$72.00
Description
Bright, subtle and complex. The nose combines fragrant, spicy cherry fruit and some sappiness from whole bunch inclusion. Perfectly integrated oak provides a both a sweet and savoury lift. The palate is a story of texture rather than structure with sweet, spicy red fruits mingling with fine tannins to create a velvety mouthfeel. Bright and soft acidity ensures persistence and an enduring aftertaste. Dawson James Pinot Noir is sourced from some of the original vines planted on the Meadowbank vineyard in the Derwent Valley. The MV6 and Pommard clone vines, planted in 1989, make them some of the most mature vines producing wine in Tasmania today. We value the grapes from these mature vines for the depth, texture and structure that they contribute.
ABOUT DAWSON JAMES
“Wine that is made for love, not profit” - James Halliday Dawson James was born of a friendship and winemaking partnership between Peter Dawson and Tim James. With a collective experience of more than 80 vintages, the opportunity of making world class Pinot Noir and Chardonnay drew them to Tasmania. The cool and dry climate, hungry soils and 30 + year-old vines grow grapes with great depth of flavour and intensity of character. Our winemaking philosophy is based on picking fruit with a natural balance of flavour and acidity. A very simple approach to winemaking allows fruit quality to shine through.
