94 Points, Qwine Reviews - "Red cherries and baked raspberries are joyous and energetic. Sourced from 2000 organic vines, the wine can't be labelled as organic as the winery and makers haven't sought certification. Fine spices curl endlessly around the mouth with sheets of powdery tannin coating the mouth with absolute ease. Long and moreish, I'd happily dive into a glass with pike. More please!"

92 Points, The Real Review - "Light and bright ruby colour. Raspberry, musk and pink peppercorn aromatics. Light to medium in body with a bright lift of red fruits entwined with sweet pepper and musk spices. Dances across the palate with an ethereal tension, never too much or too little. A wine of poise and elegance."

90 Points, Halliday Wine Companion 2023 - “A lightly hued ruby in the glass. Strawberry and cranberry with hints of pomegranate and red tulip. Dusty cinnamon and nutmeg powder. Weightier in flavour than anticipated with mulberry, red cherries and pomegranate molasses. A significant note of savoury spices and dried meats with grainy tannins and hints of varietal warmth. Drink by 2028.”

A poised grenache! Luscious ripe red berry fruit, with touch of spice. Palate is medium bodied with depth of fruit and supple fruit tannins. Highly-rated 92pts by The Real Review. Hand harvested in the cool of the morning. Grapes chilled overnight before processing. Minimal filtration and sulfur additions prior to bottling. No fining = Vegan Friendly.

    ABOUT THIS BRAND

    ChaLou Wines

Steve and Nadja both grew up on family vineyards. Nadja in Canowindra (40 minutes down the hill from Orange) and Steve in Wauchope, not far from Port Macquarie. They first met when studying winemaking at Charles Sturt university together in 2008. Following their studies, they each went their separate ways working and traveling in wine both domestically and abroad. In 2014 they each came to orange for winemaking opportunities and from then on they have been inseparable. Steve started in Orange as a part of the winemaking team at Cumulus Wines before taking the reins of Nadja’s family winery “Wallington Wines” in 2017, overseeing the viticulture, winemaking, and wine sales. Nadja has spent the past 7 years winemaking for renowned local brand “Philip Shaw Wines”. In 2020 they purchased a vineyard in Orange and here they have developed their own band ChaLou Wines. They are passionate about what they do, making expressive delicious wine and are dedicated to working sustainably with the land. ChaLou was a 2022 finalist for the Young Gun of Wine Award.
