Description
A classic & great value Barossa Shiraz.
94+ Points, Andrew Caillard, The Vintage Journal
"Deep crimson. Classical choco-berry aromas with panforte notes. Richly flavoured wine with ample dark chocolate, dark berry fruits, plentiful chocolatey tannins and marzipan/cedarwood/touch bourbon new oak notes. Finishes chocolatey firm with a spike of aniseed. Very likeable punter’s wine, rather than a critic’s choice. Drink now or keep, as the elements might fold and integrate further. Drink: Now–2028."
This Shiraz is sourced from 5 vineyards on the ‘floor’ of the Barossa Valley plus 3 in Eden Valley which includes one 110 year old parcel. It was bottled slightly earlier to preserve the primary attributes of the quality fruit. This wine was aged in French and American oak and shows great primary, regional characters of plum, blackberry, anise and cedar oak. The palate is layered and plush, and the fruit tannin dominates the oak tannin. Medium to full bodied, the wine is long and comes to a clean finish with the fruit tannin providing a defined, but not abrupt end.
