    Description

This year the wine is a blend of mostly Grenache Gris, Grenache Blanc and Roussanne. In these early stages it shows the style of wine we are aiming for; textured and layered, with good cleansing acidity. We're not looking for any one particular varietal character here-just a harmonious, tasty dry white wine with a bit of 'chutzpah'

Variety: 43% Grenache Gris, 30% Roussanne, 27% Grenache Blanc

ABOUT TIM SMITH WINES - THE REAL THING

“I just believe in everything we do at Tim Smith Wines,” says Tim. “If my business goes bankrupt, I’ll end up with some stock and I’ll have to drink it. So I better enjoy it. And I really only want to enjoy authentic, well-crafted, well-thought-out wines from places of serious pedigree.” These days, Tim Smith Wines is one of Australia’s most awarded boutique wineries. Tim’s wines have collected medals all over Australia and around the world, and in 2019, he won the coveted Barons of the Barossa Winemaker of the Year award. It was a meaningful one for Tim, who feels deeply connected to the region. Tim’s wines include Barossa superstars Shiraz, Grenache and Mataro, as well as Viognier and Riesling from neighbouring Eden Valley. He sources grapes from some of the best vineyards in the Barossa, working closely with the families who tend them. “My approach to making great wine is to get good grape growers, because they do the hard work; they understand that stuff,” says Tim. “And then, in the winery, it’s kind of a hands-off approach. We don’t overwork the wines.”

A textural blend of Clairette, Viognier, Grenache Blanc and Roussanne. Don’t think too much about the individual varieties though, think Friday night and a crisp white. The perfect partner to your end-of week knock offs.

    What The Critics Say
“This is really tidy summertime drinking. It’s a white wine with flow, shape, presence, texture and super high drinkability. I’d be happy to pour the Tim Smith Bugalugs Blanc for friends when they swing by, simply because there is plenty of interest and detail to engage with, not to mention it is very tasty. A blend of Grenache Gris, Roussanne, Grenache Blanc, this 2024 release sees Clairette dropped from the starting line up. Fresh apricots and apricot kernel skip out early – the influence of the Roussanne is clear. Pretty scents of little white flowers and dribble of honey, lemon juice, cut pear plus there is a little oyster shell thing going on. A faint lick of saltiness taps away with almond meal adding some nuttiness. Ginger spices curl around the mouth on close and ride out a long and persistent finish. It’s a wine that glides about with ease offering sheets of pleasure. Great stuff.”
