94 Points, Qwine Reviews: "One of the great eye-openers from my Orange expedition was tasting an array of Cabernet Franc wines. Much to my surprise, it was more popular than first thought, and the quality was consistently high. This release from Canobolas Wines hits the mark.
Wonderfully savoury, the fruit was clearly gently handled. Fermented naturally, it is loaded with black cherries and pretty scents of purple flowers. Ripples of dark chocolate seduce with a scattering of black pepper adding interest. Touches of charred meat rise up late but there was no mistaking the measured generosity through the mid-palate. The sustained finish ensures you have another reason to kick back and stay a while. Very well done. Drink to eight years+"
ABOUT CANOBOLAS WINES
Established in ’86 by the Smith family after an extensive search for the perfect site which was subsequently planted to chardonnay, cabernet franc and cabernet sauvignon. The vines are dry-grown, gaining strength from the free-draining clay loam derived from basalt soils. ’22 saw the Mattick family gain ownership of Canobolas Wines and they have instilled a holistic approach both in the vineyard and winery, with minimal intervention at the core, allowing the wines to express nuance of site and fruit purity. The resulting wines are those of power and grace, though the chardonnay is the firm standout.
