$218.00
Description
A top-rated Tuscan wine by many renown wine critics. Only 9,000 bottles released.
98 Points, Robert Parker The Wine Advocate: "The Castello Romitorio 2019 Brunello di Montalcino Filo di Seta reaches a whole other level of intensity and brilliance with dark fruit, blackberry, an etched mineral quality, petrichor and wet slate that gives this wine an incredibly etched and lively presentation. The tannins are velvety and perfectly match the generous texture of this beautiful Sangiovese. Only later, you start to notice the delicate tones of purple flower and iris root that give this wine such an elegant finish. This is a cellar keeper. There are 9,000 bottles of this wine. Drink: 2025 - 2048" - Monica Larner
Filo di Seta is a unique Brunello that is the result of a rigorous selection of grapes harvested by hand near the Castello Romitorio. Filo di Seta, which translates as Silk Thread, is the name of a creek that flows through the forest nearby. Fermentation takes place in stainless steel tanks with an initial short period of cold maceration (below 20°C) on the skins for about 15-20 hours. This is followed by up to 20 days of maceration at a higher controlled temperature. Malolactic fermentation that is naturally caused then lasts for about 10 days, before the wine is rested to separate the lees. The wine matures in oak for approximately 30 months, and after bottling the wine is aged in Castello Romitorio’s temperature-controlled cellars for an approximately 12 months before release.
