Description
90 Points, Decanter World Wine Awards - "2015 was a classic vintage in Bordeaux – Jane Anson rated the Left Bank reds 4.5 out of 5. This cru bourgeois property in Moulis-en-Médoc owns 30ha of vines, which are 30 years old on average. This blend of two-thirds Cabernet Sauvignon, with Merlot and a dash of Petit Verdot and Cabernet Franc added has good depth and grip, with dark plum and bramble fruit, mocha and boot polish notes. A steal at this price, drinking beautifully."
A beautiful blend of 58% Cabernet Sauvignon, 35% Merlot and 5% Petit Verdot.
ABOUT THE WINERY
The Dutruch family created the winery at the beginning of the 19th century in the village of Grand Poujeaux, launching a distinguished story which has been perpetuated since 1967 by the Cordonnier family. The high quality of the wines was recognized in 1932 with the classification of Cru Bourgeois Supérieur, followed by Cru Bourgeois Exceptionnel in both the 1966 and 1978 classifications. Located at the east of the appellation, 80% of our vines are on the Grand Poujeaux plateau, the best terroir in Moulis. Its reputation comes both from its deep gravel soils, identical to the gravel in Saint-Estèphe or the western part of Saint-Julien, as well as from its proximity to the Gironde, whose influences allow an optimal ripening of the grapes. The remaining 20% of our vineyards are composed of clay-limestone and sandy soils. This diversity of terroir brings complexity and richness to our wines.
