Dawson James Chardonnay 2019
$69.00
Description
This wine has an immediate presence with bright, sweet lemony fruit backed with gun flint and savoury oak notes. The palate is rich and long with spicy citrus flavours and soft lingering acidity driving the finish. Dawson James Chardonnay is sourced from a single patch of I10V5 clone Chardonnay vines that were planted in 2000 on the Far Horse block at Meadowbank. This cool climate site produces flavour ripeness with modest levels of grape sugar. When ripe, the berries display a green-gold lustre, tangy citrus flavours and ripping minerally acidity. This is the foundation for our powerful long-lived and finely structured Chardonnay wines.
ABOUT DAWSON JAMES
“Wine that is made for love, not profit” - James Halliday Dawson James was born of a friendship and winemaking partnership between Peter Dawson and Tim James. With a collective experience of more than 80 vintages, the opportunity of making world class Pinot Noir and Chardonnay drew them to Tasmania. The cool and dry climate, hungry soils and 30 + year-old vines grow grapes with great depth of flavour and intensity of character. Our winemaking philosophy is based on picking fruit with a natural balance of flavour and acidity. A very simple approach to winemaking allows fruit quality to shine through.
