A cult wine among wine lovers!
On the eye, the colour is intense, showing lovely deep carmine red with purple hints. On the nose, it is powerful and beautifully elegant, marked by very ripe red and black fruits, against a background of white pepper and liquorice spice, very characteristic of Trévallon. The palate is smooth and ends on a long, lovely finish showing very ripe and refined tannins of very high quality. The balance of freshness, tannins and richness suggests this great wine will keep for at least twenty years.
Description
50% Cabernet Sauvignon & 50% Syrah. Trévallon is known for its long aging process, more than 2 years for its reds. Racking is kept to a strict minimum, the lees found at the bottom of the barrels continue to nourish the wine during the ageing process. No de-stemming, no added yeast or sulphur. Aged 24 months in foudres and barrels. Fining with fresh egg white. No filtration before bottling. For several years, rainfall has been non-existent in the summer. However, in 2021 they had 20 mm in July and 25 mm in August, small but beneficial rains for the vineyard. One of the coolest summers in recent years: Average temperature of 24°C in July and August compared to 27°C in 2022.

"From a marginally cooler, damper year, the Syrah and Cabernet are already beginning to meld together. Tightly youthful and closed, this needs either advance decanting or be allowed to age for a few years. Fresh, vibrant notes of blue flowers and dark berry fruit on the nose opens out to concentrated, ripe blackberries, the vibrant kick of sloes and powerful, bitter black chocolate tannins, finishing with aromatic notes of black pepper and sweet allspice.. Domaine de Trevallon
The Domaine de Trévallon is one of the greatest estates in Provence. The Trévallon vineyard covers 17 hectares and surrounds a large, blue-shuttered, Provençal farmhouse. It is divided into 15 hectares of red grapes, made up of equal parts of Cabernet Sauvignon and Syrah and 2 hectares of white grapes. The wine is grown on Limestone and clay soil, very stony: Hauterivian et Barremian, second stage of the lower Cretaceous, less than 130 million years. In the winery, the was no de-stemming, or adding of yeast or sulphur. Aged for 24 months in foudres and barrels. Fining with fresh egg white. No filtration before bottling.
