    This full-bodied Rutherglen blend perfectly combines 60% Shiraz and 40% Durif, showcasing bold fruit flavours with a structured backbone. Aromas of violets, wood spices, and morello cherries mingle with baking spices, red berries, and a touch of lavender. The palate is rich and smooth, with dark chocolate, blackberries, red cherries, and plums, all wrapped in a velvety texture.

    Nutty wood spices and silky tannins provide balance, with a soft, lingering finish. The Durif ensures longevity, making it ideal for cellaring while still being deliciously approachable now.     Tasting Notes: Aromas of violets, wood spice, and morello cherries are laced with hints of red berries, lavender, and baking spices. On the palate, ripe blackberries, red cherries,
    and plums are enriched by a touch of dark chocolate and nutty wood spices. Silky tannins and a structured backbone lead to a soft, lingering finish that’s as satisfying as it is
    memorable.

    Winemaking Notes: Crafted from a harmonious blend of 62% Shiraz from our Francis vineyard and 38% Durif from the Cellar Block, this wine captures the essence of Rutherglen. Handpicked mid-season, the fruit was fermented in open-top vats with daily hand-plunging to extract deep colour and balanced tannins. After six months of aging in French and American oak, the individual parcels were blended to marry the bright fruit of Shiraz with the darker, structured qualities of Durif. The wine was then returned to barrel for an additional nine months to refine and integrate the flavours.

    Stanton & Killeen

    Stanton and Killeen Vintage Fortified (previously Vintage Port) is made from grapes picked in a single vintage year, which during the wine making process, has carefully selected grape spirit added to it, resulting in a final alcohol content of about 18.5%.

    Following almost two years in premium oak, the fortified is bottled. It then requires 10-20 years bottle ageing before it is fully matured and ready to drink.
    Stanton & Killeen have crafted a Vintage Fortified unlike most others produced in Australia. The Stanton & Killeen Vintage Fortified has evolved into a dryer more elegant style, this has occurred with the introduction of Portuguese Port grape varieties added to those traditionally used in Australia.

    The business is now owned and run by 7th-generation vigneron Natasha Killeen and her mother and CEO, Wendy Killeen. Fortifieds are a strong focus for the winery with around half of its production dedicated to this style. Their vineyards comprise 14 varieties, including 7 Portuguese cultivars used for both fortified and table wine production. A vineyard rejuvenation program has been implemented since '14, focusing on sustainable and environmentally friendly practices. South African winemaker Adriaan Foot joined in Jan '23.
