Villa Raiano Fiano di Avellino DOCG Campania 2023
$44.00
Description
A stunning Italian dry wine! Laden with ripe yellow pear, hazelnuts and savoury mineral notes, the dry palate is charged with some nice tangy acidity. Rounded, polished & delicious. In the glass, straw yellow with greenish reflections, the nose is immediately reached by a fragrance that is austere and gentle at the same time. Aromas of mint, sage and white peach appear, which are subtly accompanied by sensations of white chocolate and citrus fruits. With time, a distinct mineral component emerges. The palate is fine, not too voluminous, but full and satisfying. A nice acidity enhances the freshness of the Fiano di Avellino from Campania. The finish is very tasty with a return of dense floral and menthol notes.
100% Fiano. Fiano is a very old autochthonous white grape variety of southern Italy. It is mainly distributed in the Italian region of Campania. Fiano was already cultivated by the Romans, who called them Vitis apiana because of their great attraction to bees (Latin apis, Italian ape). It produces aromatic, spicy white wines with a spicy honey and nut bouquet, which are long storable.
ABOUT VILLA RAIANO
Villa Raiano is a family-owned vineyard at 400m near San Michelle di Serino. Falanghina is a local grape variety with citrus and white stone fruit aromas. Villa Raiano Falanghina has notes of mineral notes and honey on the crisp finish. The family-owned winery of Villa Raiano was established in 1996, in the village of Raiano, Campania. In 2009 a new winery was built - on top of a hill amongst vineyards and chestnut woods, overlooking the River Sabato near San Michele di Serino in the Southern Apennines.
They are dedicated to producing a range of wines from local varieties Aglianico, Fiano and Greco - primarily sourced (80%) from 20 hectares of their own organically farmed vines, across three DOCGs. They also produce Falanghina from vineyards owned by local growers.
