Domaine Tempier Bandol 'La Migoua’ Rouge 2022
$185.00
Description
"The 2020 Bandol la Migoua—tasted from foudre—is a bit tarry and rubbery (expected, to some degree, in young Mourvèdre-based wines) but opens up to reveal seductive, ripe notes of blackberries and mulberries. A blend of approximately 55% Mourvèdre, 25% Cinsault, 15% Grenache and 5% Syrah, it's medium to full-bodied on the palate, concentrated but silky in feel and elegant on the long finish." - 94 Points, The Wine Advocate, Feb 2023 (previous vintage)
ABOUT DOMAINE TEMPIER BANDOL
Tempier is one of the best known estates in Bandol and has been run by the Peyraud family since 1936, when Lucie Tempier married Lucien Peyraud. In 1943 Lucien bottled his first wine, a rose, and by 1945 had become President of the Bandol Wine Association, a position he held for 37 years. The couple were fundamental in the ensuing growth and recognition of Bandol as a globally recognised producer of fine wine. Lucien died in 1996 and Lucie (Lulu) continued her involvment in both food and wine, until her death in October 2020 at the age of 102, just after the harvest.
From the vintage 2020, the family decided to rename their classic red cuvée "Lulu & Lucien" in honour of the couple.
